What I’m Reading This Week #23

Each week I share books I’m reading for my Read 100 Challenge, as well as podcasts I’m listening to and links I love from around the blogosphere.  I love to get recommendations, so please let me know what you are reading!

Books I’m Reading

Daily Rituals: How Artists Work by Mason Currey

This book is a collection of artists’ routines:  how they work, what daily habits they have, and how they managed to create.  Each description is very short (around a page) and quick to read.  My biggest takeaway?  There are hundreds of ways to be creative!  However, most artists seemed to find their most productive times in the morning.  Also, consistency is key.  Many had word quotas they wanted to meet each day.  I may try to implement daily word goals as I am writing.

The Wright 3 by Blue Balliett

This sequel to the wildly popular young adult mystery Chasing Vermeer does not disappoint.   Balliett has just the right combination of mystery, danger, children solving problems on their own, and art that will interest many young readers.  In the story, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses is about to be dismantled and shipped off to three museums.  The children work to solve an old mystery and save the house.  Great fun!

What I’m Listening To

Make Over Your Mornings Course by Crystal Paine

I thought that I had a pretty good handle on my mornings, but I have learned so much from this course already–and I’m only on Day 10 of 14.  If you want to start your day with purpose (which doesn’t mean just getting up super early and beginning the to-do list!), I highly recommend it!  You can even download the first day for free and see if you want to purchase the entire course.

I finally finished Eat, Pray, Love and I just started reading a book called ‘Work Rules’ which is about how Google management works. I am trying to do some research about managing people, so I can apply it at work. I like to switch between story books and books I can learn from.

I’m going to check out your links, thanks for sharing!

You know, I haven’t read Eat, Pray, Love yet. I may have to add that to my list!
